    As the 4th Industrial Revolution progresses, business innovation is taking place throughout the industry through IT convergence. The records management field, like other industries, is undergoing major changes such as in the work environment and the records management paradigm. There is a shift from the production and management of paper records to electronic records, and it is an era in which, with digitalization, a large amount of records covering various data types must be handled. A situation has arrived in which we cannot keep up with the changes in the current way that people do records management.
    The latest IT technology is at the center of change, and Robotics Process Automation (RPA) technology has also emerged in this trend. RPA is a software robot that imitates and automates the repetitive and standardized work process of humans. RPA is currently spreading to many industries, including large corporations.
    It is also necessary to actively consider the introduction of RPA for records management. The necessity of research on the automation of records management business using RPA technology can be seen as follows. First, digital innovation is needed in the field of records management. Second, automation by an IT system built by investing a lot of money and time is limited, and it requires automation according to various process characteristics. Additionally, RPA has the potential to be utilized as an automation system for one person. Third, in order to effectively introduce RPA in the field of records management, the person in charge of performing records management needs to understand RPA technology.
    The purpose of this study is to look at ways to automate work by applying RPA technology to records management and to suggest directions to recognize and promote the use of RPA technology in the records management field, and furthermore, through RPA technology. This is done to present as a digital innovation tool for records management. In order to specify the purpose of the study, the following detailed topics were set.
    1. Why is it necessary to apply RPA technology to records management?
    2. How can RPA technology be applied to records management?
    3. What is the direction of the development of RPA adoption for digital innovation in records management?
    To this end, this study examines the characteristics of the records management business from the perspective of RPA application, and discusses methods for individual records management personnel to automate records management work by using RPA technology. I would also like to present tasks that can apply RPA to records management business. By using RPA technology, you will be able to respond quickly to changes in the records management business environment and focus on the original records management and utilization business with higher added value.
