    The Fourth Industrial Revolution (also known as Industry 4.0) is an ongoing transformation which incorporates the unprecedented developments of digital technologies. The development of technologies consists of Information Communication & Technology (ICT), ICBM (Internet of Things, Cloud system, Big Data, and Mobile), and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Based on the following keywords: hyper-connectivity, super-convergence, and hyper-intelligence, Industry 4.0 is evolving at an exponential pace and creating a new paradigm in political, economic, and social-cultural structures worldwide. This new industrial innovation of advanced technologies is changing our daily life and provides us with new capacities.
    In such hyper-connected society, people and technologies interact with each other simultaneously through on and offline networks and platforms. All the activities and traces created in these networks and platforms continuously produce an explosive amount of data. These data contain meaningful information and have a potential to become the resources for the extensive information and knowledge. In this sense, the data generated in the Industry 4.0 is acknowledged as valuable assets.
    In order to fully utilize these assets, it is crucial to find ways to capture, secure, preserve, and manage the vast amount of data. Specifically, considering the inevitability of the necessity for a systematic data management and utilization process, this study argues that such process can be conducted through the data archive.
    This study presents main features and characteristics of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and discusses about the changes and new aspects of the society. By observing how the paradigm shifts from the past and investigating the case studies of various categories of archive, this study attempts to explore the changes in role of archives (record management) and archivists. Moreover, it aims to adopt the concept of ‘data curation’ and the curation process based on the lifecycle of data to the archive systems and archivists’ roles by developing a new archive curation model.
    Although the concept of data curation and the model proposed in this study provide only the conceptual guidelines, institutions and organizations are required to establish and implement systems and processes that can comply with their purposes and characteristics. Furthermore, collaborated efforts of related industries and academies are expected to conduct an important role in systematizing the data archives.
