The Fourth Industrial Revolution, also known as the Second Information Revolution, displays the characteristics of hyper-connectivity, super-convergence, and super-intelligence. In a hyper-connected society, all devices and people are connected to a network, and such a connection generates massive amounts of data in real-time. Being in an era where all traces of human behaviors are processed in data, we need to capture data to produce reliable records and include it in the field of record-keeping for integrated management.
Data has no meaning when segmented, but when it creates meaning through connection, its value increases. Through fusing, data constantly produces new values, and as a result, it can be utilized in more useful as well as an active way in each field.
Through the observation of ‘complex system theory’ and ‘yin yang theory,’ which are based on interaction, this paper attempted to explore the ideas rooted in data fusion. In addition, this study aimed to understand the essential meaning of data fusion and the interaction and phenomenon of the components that cause such fusion.
In order for data to become an authoritative source, it is necessary to perform systematic and ongoing as well as the integrated management of the produced data. To maximize the utilization of data fusion through the interaction of data and to trigger emergent phenomena, ‘data archives’, physical or virtual spaces with an open system, are required.
With regard to the future direction of the development of such data archives, this study has proposed four major frameworks by focusing on ‘complex system theory’ and ‘yin yang theory’. As the meaning and utilization of data fusion have become significant in a super-converged as well as hyper-connected society, this paper endeavored to lay a theoretical groundwork concerning them. Moreover, when it comes to the process of establishing and planning data archives in the future, the significance of this study lies in expanding one’s horizons of the topic.
