일제강점기 대중예술 활동의 디지털 큐레이션 모델 연구 : 오케레코드 사장 이철을 중심으로

The purpose of this study is to construct a digital curation model which demonstrates various aspects of the pop art activities in Japanese colonial period. It focuses on the representative showman Lee Chul, and helps to understand the context and relationship between various kinds of art activities and social backgrounds of the period and also aims for effective usage of these information.

Lee Chul(李哲, 1903~1944) is a representative showman in Japanese colonial period who ran the Okeh Record and Chosun Music Club(朝鮮樂劇團). He led the music market by competing with large music companies under poor conditions, and also ran the most popular performance group crossing Korea, Japan, China and Manchuria. However he was also a figure who had a dark side, choosing to cooperate in the Japanese war which represents the limit of pop art activities of that period.

Through this study, the ontology was designed that deals with the complex network of surrounding figures of Lee chul to fully understand the his life and the digital curation model was organized with visualizing the data. This model helped discovering the new knowledge and provided the possibility of various creative interpretations that are different from exiting ones.

The model designed in this study, mainly focused on Japanese colonial period and the figures of pop artists, but also considered the extensive use in various other topics. The model will expand its use by the collaboration of researchers who conduct study about Japanese colonial period, and also will contribute to creating contents that are useful for the relevant industry.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구의 목적은 일제강점기의 대중예술 활동을 다각적으로 조망하는 디지털 큐레이션 모델을 제시하는 데 있다. 당대의 대표적인 대중예술인을 중심으로 그 시대의 다양한 예술 활동과 작품, 사회적 배경 사이의 관계와 맥락을 종합적으로 살필 수 있게 함으로써, 이에 관한 지식정보가 유용하게 쓰일 수 있게 함을 목표로 한다.

이철(李哲, 1903~1944)은 일제강점기를 대표하는 예술가이자 흥행 사업가이다. 1944년에 갑작스럽게 사망했기에 사업체를 운영한 기간은 12년에 불과했지만, 당대의 누구보다 큰 성공을 경험했고 많은 시련을 겪기도 했다. 이철의 인적 교유는 학교와 교회, 예술계 등 광범하게 진행되었기에 이를 온톨로지 설계에 포괄적으로 수용할 수 있도록 했으며, 개방적 환경에서 다수가 참여할 수 있도록 확장 가능성을 고려했다.

일제강점기라는 특수한 상황에서 발생한 주요한 사건과 인적 교유는 연구자에게 매력적인 탐구주제이면서 일반인의 관심 또한 높은 분야이다. 그러나 잘못된 근거자료를 바탕으로 한 왜곡된 결과가 마치 사실처럼 인용되거나, 인터넷을 통해 끊임없이 재생산되는 대표적인 분야이기도 하다. 역사를 정면 으로 응시해야 객관적인 검증이 가능하고, 올바른 교훈과 발전적인 극복의 방안을 얻을 수 있다. 신뢰할 수 있는 데이터베이스의 구축이 중요한 이유이다.

본 연구에서는 클래스를 구성하는 각 데이터의 근거를 명확하게 알 수있도록 구체적인 웹 자원을 제시했다. 기존의 웹 자원이 빈약할 때는 수집된 자료를 새로운 웹 자원으로 구성해서 공개했다. 온톨로지 설계는 이철의 생애에서 주요한 변곡점이 되는 다섯 가지 사건을 중심으로, 전후 맥락을 추적하여 사실관계를 규명할 수 있도록 구성했다. 다섯 가지 주요사건은 <이억길 사건>, <오케레코드 설립>, <조선어교육 레코드 제작>, <조선악 극단 운영>, <군국가요 제작>이며, 각 사건은 긴밀한 관계를 맺고 있다.

이상의 사건을 중심으로 이철과 주변 인물들의 복합적인 관계망을 하나의틀 안에 구성하는 온톨로지를 설계하고 데이터의 시각화를 통해 디지털 큐레이션 모델로 제시했다. 본 연구에서 구축한 모델은 일제강점기와 대중 예술인에 초점을 맞췄지만, 다양한 분야에 종사하는 각 인물의 복합적인 상황을 고려하여 확장성을 염두에 두고 설계했다. 향후 일제강점기를 주제로 하는 관련 연구자의 협업을 통해 점차 영역이 확장될 것이며, 산업적으로 유용한 콘텐츠의 개발에도 적용할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
