디자인 아카이브의 특수성과 발전 방향 : 기록으로서 디자인과 의미작용을 중심으로

Design is an important means of understanding the culture and consciousness of the age. consciousness, value, and technology of the age can be found in design. Then the discussion of design archives should also be held in a way that reflects the diversity of design. However, discussions about design archives are focused on methodology. In order to proceed with the discussion of design archives, speciality of design archives that is different from administrative records management must take precedence. Therefore, this study suggests the theoretical basis of the definition of design records and approach point of view, and suggests development direction considering the specificity of design archive.
To this end, the definition and the value of the design record were examined based on the visual sign. Visual sign is a means of reading messages that can not be conveyed by text alone, that is, the value of a design record. Second, the direction of future development is suggested considering the specificity and case of design archive.
Based on the specificity and case of the design archive, the proposed development direction is as follows. First, it is documetation of the versatility of design records. Second, the utilization of design records through visual sign. Third, it is continuous documentation of archive content. Fourth, it is a function of design archive as information resource. Fifth, it is connection and cooperation with related organization. The consideration of this study is expected to be the basis for future design archive establishment.
