삶의 여정으로서의 집(home)

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 논문은 연구자가 생각한 '집'에 대한 작업과 '집을 찾아 나가는 여정’의 기록을 담은 것이다. 연구자의 작품 연구 동기는 본인이 추구한 근원적이고 이상적인 안식처를 집으로 여긴 것으로부터 시작되었다. 대부분의 사람들은 집 안에서 자신의 추억을 회상하고 안식을 얻으며 꿈을 찾는다. 연구자는 이러한 집의 향수와 마음의 평화, 그리고 꿈의 이미지를 형상으로 만들어 그들을 위로하고 싶었다. 연구자가 사유한 집의 의미의 근거를 찾기 위해 제프리 헤이워드(Geoffrey Hayward)의 '집의 9가지 현상학적 개념'과 가스통 바슐라르(Gaston Bachelard)의 집의 철학적 의미에 대한 연구를 살펴보았고 이를 바탕으로 작업을 진행하였다. 앞서 언급한 이론적, 예술적 배경을 근거로 본 연구자의 작업의 토대를 구축하였고 인간에게 집은 의미 있는 존재이고 인간의 삶은 계속해서 집을 향해 가는 과정 중에 있다는 것을 알게 되었다. 연구자의 의도를 작품으로 구현하고 시각화하는 과정에서 집의 도상과 그 안의 표현 요소인 점, 선, 면에 대해 탐구하였고 이는 작업의 근거를 제공하였다. 연구자는 본 연구를 통해 집의 의미와 역할을 고찰하였고 집을 향한 여정이 결국 우리의 삶이라는 결론을 내릴 수 있었다. 지금도 우리는 집을 향해 가고 있고 그 여정은 계속되고 있으며 그것이 결코 끝나지 않는다는 점을 깨닫는 것은 삶의 깊이 있는 이해로 확장되는 데에 그 의의가 있다.
연구자에게 본 논문의 연구과정은 지도 속의 한 점(點)임과 동시에 또 다른 집을 찾아가는 기록이다. 앞으로 연구자의 앞에 펼쳐질 여정들을 또 다른 집을 향한 도약으로 인식하면서 실험적인 태도로 삶을 살아 나가고자 한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This thesis is a study about the work of 'home' and the record of the journey to find 'home'. The motive of this study started from the fact that the original and ideal resting place pursued by the researcher was the ‘home’. People cherish their memories, find their dreams and rest through the home. The researcher wanted to visualize the images of a home that recalls nostalgia, peace of mind, and dreams which may comforts them. The researcher studied Geoffrey Hayward's 'Nine Phenomenological Concepts of the House' and the philosophical theory of Gaston Bachelard's house in order to find the basis for the meaning of home. Based on the above-mentioned, theoretical and artistic background, The researcher have built the foundation of this work. This study gives a message that as a human, we all are in the lifelong journey searching for the meaning of home. To visualize and embody researcher’s intention on the home, The researcher studied the icons of the house and its expressive elements as points, lines and surfaces, which provided the basis of the work. The researcher realized the meaning and role of the home and concluded that the journey to the home is our life through this study. Even at this moment, we are heading for the home, and realizing that the lifelong journey never ends which extends to a deeper comprehension of our life.
