무대공간에서의 고구려 문화재 활용에 관한 연구 : 최인훈 희곡「둥둥 낙랑 둥」을 중심으로 = A study of theater stage using the Koguryo cultural heritage

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study of using Koguryo’s cultural assets on theater stage contains new way of protecting the cultural properties on this modern society we live in today. To approach better for the people instead of cling to the traditional way of just showing cultural assets itself on museum or on written material the cultural assets were produced it on stage for the people to feel the culture more easier way and moreover having them to think about protecting the cultural assets through unconsciousness throughout the play. To do so Koguryo’s creatively beautiful cultural assets were reborn as stage art and dissolved well with the playwriting.

Koguryo was a strong ancient country in East Asia which was multicultural. It means the country was a multiracial nation and because of that complexed environment had to be interacted among people. This strong and unique one culture was made through understanding and acceptance of different kinds in the society.
To look in deeper Koguryo’s unique ancient tomb mural is a one big mixture of artistic space of how they absorbed foreign culture and reproduced it by elaborating in their own ways as the evidence. It contains the key information of the time and space of the Koguryo that age. This fascinating collaboration of the culture is perhaps trying to communicate past to the future.
In this 21st century people digitalize records and bits of the ancient currencies as new technology system called blockchain. Likewise the past and the present is very relevant and cannot be dealt separated as different matter. A lot of Korean culture’s fundamental was found in Koguryo time period. To indicate this importance of using and protecting the traditional heritage the study needed to approach in new ways. Due to fast growing technology and media for easier and broader understand for people this study used the cultural assets as new entertainment content.
To make a new content for protection of the traditional heritage the studier used the Koguryo’s culture as a motive and reinterpreted Korean tale about prince Hodong and princess Nakrang reproducing a play called ‘Dong dong Nak rang dong’. This attempt is an eye-opening progress in this field which suggests new system for protecting the traditional assets. The importance comes from keeping the traditional ways and at the same time wanting the people to understand and feel in modern view.
The study doesn’t stop at protecting Korean culture only. Even though the story is about the Korean society and culture if we look deeper inside the basic spiritual ceremony contains similar bond and sympathy of human beings all over the world. The process of new attempt of bringing ancient heritage to entertainment field will help the people who live in present days to understand the importance of the past and deeply think about how to pass on to the future.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

고구려 문화재의 무대공간에서의 활용에 관한 연구는 고구려 문화재의 독창적인 아름다움을 극작에 맞게 재창조하여 무대미술의 역할을 수용하고, 일반적인 문화재보존방식에서 벗어나 대중예술 속에서 관객의 의식을 통한 보존방법이라는 현대적 관점에서 본 새로운 소통의 보존형식을 시도해 보았다.
고구려는 고대 동아시아의 강국으로 다민족국가이며 복합적 환경으로 다양한 생활방식을 가진 사회로 보편적 이해와 수용을 거쳐 문화의 다양성과 포용력으로 독자적인 개성과 함께 높은 문화수준을 보여준다.
특히, 고구려 고유의 무덤양식속의 고분벽화는 외래문화의 수용과 고구려식의 재창조과정을 통해 그 시대의 시공간을 그대로 옮겨와 모든 정보를 담고 있는 복합적인 예술의 공간으로 과거와 현대를 잇는 대화의 통로를 열어주고 있다. 수 천년전 고대화폐의 기록과 조각을 디지털화한 블록체인기술이 현대에서 활용되듯이 우리는 고구려 문화에서 수많은 한국문화의 원형을 찾을 수 있다. 본연구자는 이러한 소중한 전통문화유산을 보존함에 있어 대중과 소통하고 공유하기 위해 콘텐츠적으로 다가가기위한 새로운 시도와 변화의 필요성을 본 연구를 통해 학문적으로 접근해보았다.
이에 본 연구에서는 전통문화의 창조적 재해석의 관점에서 한국의 설화를 소재로 한 호동왕자와 낙랑공주의 이야기 『둥둥 낙랑 둥』작품을 통하여 고구려 문화재를 모티브로 무대화에 새롭게 활용하여 보았다.
이러한 시도는 현대의 괄목할만한 기술에 엔터테인먼트적인 요소를 접목시켜 대중예술에 역사 속 신화와 문화재를 응용함으로써 대중속의 예술로 승화시켜 전통문화를 보존하는 방식의 새로운 방향을 제시한다.
한국의 설화나 문화는 한국적인 정서를 바탕으로 하지만 그 원초적 의식이나 상상의 원형은 인류의 보편적 공감대를 형성하므로 가장 한국적인 것이 가장독창적인 문화예술로 모두에게 감동을 줄 수 있다.
따라서 『둥둥 낙랑 둥』작품 속에 나타난 고구려 문화재를 활용하여 무대화하는 과정을 통해 문화재가 현대공연문화와 대중예술에 미치는 영향을 살펴보고자한바, 민족의 역사와 문화·예술의 혼이 담긴 소중한 문화유산을 과거와 현재, 미래로 지속적으로 전해질 수 있도록 응용되고 장려되어 권장되어야 할 것이다.
