This article analyzes musical background, form, and technique used in the concerto for violin and orchestra“Nalgae”composed by Woohee Moon in 2018.
Inspired by wings, Nalgae expresses soaring of a bird through solo instrument and other accompanying instruments. The song unfolds through sequential performance of each notes, and the orchestra is organized with horizontal flow and vertical structure describing wind.
This song is structured with a single movement with short interlude, and the entire format is divided into four parts(A-B-C-A′). Triangle signals the beginning of a new chapter. The basic note material consists of perfect four intervals, and the song displays cluster effect which projects empty sound using consistent harmony. It is also partially symmetrical. The harmony with perfect fourth interval is used vertically and horizontally throughout the entire song. The solo instrument’s melody stands out with its chromatic development and lasting notes. The melody with the same note structure is imitated in other instruments as well. The beat is 4/4 and the tempo stays constantly throughout the entire song, and the rhythm consists of long lasting notes. In part A the song begins with string instruments lasting note, and the solo instrument follows after. Meanwhile in part B, the solo instrument leads the flow of the song. In part C the song proceeds with string instruments lasting note, and wind instruments fast time - value. Part A’ is the extended version of Part A and the song finishes up using features of part C in its finale.

바이올린과 오케스트라를 위한 협주곡 ‘날개’

본 논문은 2018년에 작곡된 문우희의 바이올린과 오케스트라를 위한 협주곡‘날개’의 음악적인 배경과 형식 그리고 사용된 기법을 분석한 것이다.
음악 외적 요소인 날개에 착안하여 독주악기와 나머지 악기군들을 사용하여 새의 비상을 표현하였다. 각 음들의 순차적 진행으로 곡이 전개되며 오케스트라는 이를 받쳐줄 바람과 같은 역할을 토대로 수평적인 흐름과 수직적인 짜임새를 구성하였다.
이 곡은 짧은 도입부가 딸린 단악장으로 구성되어 있으며 전체 형식은 4부분(A-B-C-A′)으로 이루어져있다. 각 단락은 트라이앵글(Triangle)의 등장으로 구분된다. 기본 음 재료는 완전4도 음정관계로 이루어져 있고 화음을 일관적으로 사용함으로써 비어 있는 듯한 소리와 나아가 클러스터(Cluster)와 같은 효과를 내고 있으며 부분적으로 대칭을 이루고 있다. 완전 4도의 음정 관계로 이루어진 화음은 곡 전체의 수직, 수평적인 부분에 사용되고 있다. 독주 악기의 선율은 반음계적인 진행과 지속음이 두드러지고, 같은 음정관계로 구성된 선율이 독주 악기와 다른 악기 군에서 모방되어 나타난다. 박자는 4/4이고 빠르기는 곡의 시작부터 끝까지 변함이 없으며, 리듬은 긴 지속음이 주를 이루고 있다. A부분에서는 현악기의 지속음으로 시작하여 독주악기가 나타나고, B부분에서는 독주악기가 곡의 흐름을 이끌며 진행된다. C부분에서는 음가가 짧은 빠른 음형으로 전개되며, A′부분에서는 단락 A가 연장된 형태로 나타나고 종결부분에서는 단락 C의 요소를 사용하여 곡이 마무리된다.
