풍물굿 운동의 당대적 의미와 예술적 실천에 관한 연구 : 박근혜퇴진 촛불집회 중 풍물굿 실천을 중심으로 = A study on the current implication of Pungmulgut and artistic activism - Focus on pungmulgut campaign during the candlelight assembly for the impeachment of Park Geun Hye

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 논문은 2016년 10월 말부터 2017년 4월 말까지 대한민국에서 벌어진 박근혜퇴진 촛불집회 과정에서의 다양한 예술행동 중 “시국풍물굿판 : 새로운 나라로 가는 길굿(이하 나라굿)”이라는 모토로 진행 된 풍물굿 운동에 주목하고자 한다.
나라굿은 촛불집회 기간 내내 풍물굿 단체들과 시민들의 자발적 참여로 진행되었다. 촛불 정국이 전개되자 전국의 풍물인들은 ‘전국풍물인연석회의’를 결성하고 전국 각지에서 나라굿을 진행한다. 서울(광화문)에서는 매주 토요일 나라굿판이 벌어졌다.
촛불집회가 끝나고 나서 나라굿을 하며 모였던 풍물단체들은 풍물단체대표자연석회의 ‘풍물굿연대’를 결성한다. 현재 풍물굿연대라는 조직적 형태로 결집해 있는 풍물굿 운동은 1970년대 대학생들 사이에서 서양문화 특히 미국문화에 맞서 전통문화, 민족문화를 되살리고자 하는 활동에서 시작되어 1980년대 학생운동과 맞물리면서 급성장하게 된다. 다양한 문화예술 동아리 중에서도 풍물패, 탈패, 민요패는 ‘식민지 하에서는 가장 민족적인 것이 가장 민중적인 것이다’라는 슬로건 하에 학생 대중을 조직하고 의식화하기에 좋은 장르였다. 학생운동에서 시작된 풍물굿 운동은 1987년 6월민주항쟁과 7,8,9월 노동자대투쟁을 거치면서 민중운동과 사회운동, 문화예술운동으로 확장하게 된다. 사회로 나온 풍물굿 운동은 다양한 내용의 풍물굿 단체로 만들어진다. 그 풍물굿 단체의 목적은 전업활동, 취미활동, 문화운동의 일환 등으로 정리해 볼 수 있고 대부분 그 성격이 혼재되어 있다. 활동 방식도 전문연희, 강습, 공연, 운동의 형태로 정리해 볼 수 있으며 활동의 방식도 혼재되어 있다.
이 논문에서는 박근혜퇴진 촛불집회 당시 진행했던 풍물굿 단체들의 풍물굿 실천을 연구하여 풍물굿 운동의 당대적 의미와 예술적 실천의 의미에 대해 고찰해보고자 한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Of the various artistic activities organized during the candlelight assemblies for the impeachment of Park Geun Hye between October, 2016 and April, 2017, this paper focuses on the pungmulgut campaign held under the motto of 󰡒civil pungmulgutpan: a road to a new country (naragut).󰡓
Naragut was organized through voluntary involvement of pungmulgut organizations and citizens during the candlelight assemblies. Pungmul artists across the country formed 󰡒National Pungmul Artists' Association󰡓 and organized naragut in various parts of Korea. In Gwanghwamun, Seoul, naragut was held every Saturday.
After the candlelight assemblies, the leaders of the pungmul organizations that had gathered for naragut formed 󰡒Pungmulgut Regiment.󰡓 Pungmulgut campaign started in the 1970s among college students in an effort to revive traditional cultures against the invasion of Western, especially American, culture. It grew in the 1980s in line with student activism. Among various culture & art clubs, pungmulpae, talpae, and minyopae were good genres for the organization and conscientization of the student population under the slogan of 󰡒Korean culture for Korean people.󰡓
Pungmulgut movement that started out from student activism, expands its horizons to people movement, social activism, and artistic activism through the democratization movement of June, 1987 and labour movement of July to September, 1987. Pungmulgut movement developed into various pungmulgut organizations within the society with varying purposes such as professional pungmulgut art, hobby, and cultural activism, though, in most cases, these purposes coexist within one organization. These organizations carry out various activities, such as professional art show, classes, performance, and activism and again, the activities were often mixed.
This paper contemplates the current implication of pungmulgut as well as artistic activism by studying the pungmulgut campaign during the candlelight assemblies for Park Geun Hye's impeachment.
