The purpose of this study was to synthesize the relationship between parental attitude and peer relationship of children and adolescents using meta-analysis. For data coding and analysis, CMA3(Comprehensive Meta Analysis V3) program was used. After reviewing primary studies published between 2002 and 2015, 41 effect sizes were extracted and meta-analyzed. Firstly, average effect size between parental attitude and peer relationship of children and adolescents showed a statistically significant relationship. Secondly, among the effect sizes between sub-factor of parental attitude and positive peer relationship, affectional parenting attitude showed the highest effect size. Thirdly, among the effect sizes between sub-factor of parental attitude and negative peer relationship, affectional-controling parenting attitude showed the highest effect size. Lastly, given the heterogeneity among the effect sizes, subgroup analysis was conducted. According to the analyses, effect sizes significantly differed depending on age group, but not on perception of subject. Future studies need to expand this study by considering various types of parenting attitudes and peer relationship.
