The fabrication of implant prosthesis is carried out through several steps. Among them, bite registration is the most basic and important process. Studies have been done to evaluate the accuracy of bite registration. but research has not been reported which was related to the implant bite registration. Therefore, this study determined to evaluate the accuracy of different bite registration techniques for implant fixed prostheses with 3D files
Implant fixtures were placed on the mandibular right second premolar, first molar, second molar in the polyurethane model. Maxillary and mandibular polyurethane models were mounted on a articulator. This polyurethane models were assumed to a patient. Healing abutments, temporary abutments were used for HA, HP, HB group (n=15) and TA, TP, TB group (n=15) each. Aluwax, Pattern Resin and Blu-Mousse were used as bite registration materials. For group BC using bite impression coping, impression taking and bite registration were done at the same time. These models were attached to the articulators. Scan bodies were connected to the fixtures and lab analogs of the casts. All the casts were scanned with a model scanner. Center of the superior surface of the #46 site scan body and mesiopalatal cusp tip of #16 were set as a reference point. The distance measured between the reference point in the three-dimensional files
The smallest error was showed on the group using temporary abutments and polyvinylsiloxane bite material (group TB) and the group using bite impression coping (group BC). The largest error showed on the group using healing abutment and Pattern Resin (group HP). There was statistically difference between group TB, BC and group HP (p=.001). This experiment could not take into account the biological factor and dimensional change of impression materials, dental stone. Therefore, additional studies are needed considering these factors.
