어머니의 양육태도가 유아의 문제행동에 미치는 영향 : 아버지의 양육참여도 매개효과

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship and effects among the maternal parenting behavior, children’s problem behavior, and father’s participation. Especially, the mediating effects of father’s participation in the effect of maternal parenting behavior on children’s problem behavior.
According to this purpose, I set the following research problems.
First, what is the effect of maternal parenting behavior on children’s problem behavior?
Second, what is the effect of father’s participation on children’s problem behavior?
  Third, what is the mediating effect of father’s participation in the relationship between maternal parenting behavior and children's problem behavior?
For the purpose of this study, data was collected 251 children in the 3 to 5 year olds, their mothers, and their teachers from day care centers located in Seoul. Maternal parenting behavior and father’s participation were assessed by self-reports of mothers. children's problem behavior was assessed by children’s teacher.
Maternal parenting behavior was reported by mothers using a scale developed by Schaefer(1959). Children's problem behavior was reported by their teachers. Teachers completed PBQ(The Preschooler Behavior Questionnaire) developed by Behar & Stringfield(1974). And father’s participation was rated by children’s mother who recognized their husband’s parenting participation developed by Kim Jung(2005).
Selected data were analyzed by SPSS 18.0 program. Means and standard deviations for the major variables were presented. Correlations were computed to examine the relations of the variables. Then, regressions was estimated to test the mediating effect of father’s participation in the relationship between maternal parenting behavior and children's problem behavior through Baron & Kenny’s procedure. Finally, Sobel test was estimated.
The main results of this study were as follows:
First, correlations between maternal parenting behavior and children’s problem behavior were negatively correlated. Correlations between maternal parenting behavior and father’s participation were positively correlated. Children’s problem behavior has significantly negatively correlated with father’s participation. This is implicated that fathers participation has frequently, children were expressed problem behavior low.
Secondly, This study examined the effects of maternal parenting behavior, children’s problem behavior, and father’s participation. and there was an mediating effect of father’s participation in the relationship between maternal parenting behavior and children's problem behavior. For example, maternal positive parenting behavior had an influence on children’s problem behavior. Next, maternal positive parenting behavior had also father’s participation. Also maternal parenting behavior and father’s participation had an influence on children’s problem behavior. Finally, there is an full mediating effect of father’s participation in the relationship between maternal parenting behavior and children's problem behavior.
Finally, there is an full mediating effect of father’s participation in the relationship between and children's problem behavior. Through this study, we need to recognize importance of father’s participation and to find how to improve the father’s participation.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 어머니의 양육태도, 유아의 문제행동 및 아버지의 양육참여도 간의 관계를 살펴보고, 어머니의 양육태도가 유아의 문제행동에 미치는 영향에서 아버지의 양육참여도가 매개역할을 하는지를 밝히고자 하였다. 이러한 연구목적에 따라 다음과 같은 연구문제를 설정하였다.
첫째, 어머니의 양육태도가 유아의 문제행동에 미치는 영향은 어떠한가?
둘째, 아버지의 양육참여도가 유아의 문제행동에 미치는 영향은 어떠한가?
셋째, 어머니의 양육태도가 유아의 문제행동에 미치는 영향에서 아버지의 양육 참여도의 매개효과는 어떠한가?
연구대상은 서울시 송파구에 위치한 어린이집의 만 3세부터 만 5세까지 유아 251명과 그들의 어머니 251명과, 그리고 유아의 담임교사를 대상으로 하였다. 본 연구를 위해 사용된 연구도구는 다음과 같다. 먼저, 어머니의 양육태도 측정을 위해서 Schaefer(1959)의 MBRI(Maternal Behavior Research Instrument)를 공영숙(2012)이 자신의 연구에서 수정·보완하여 35개의 문항으로 구성한 도구를 사용하였다. 다음으로 유아의 문제행동을 측정하기 위해 Behar와 Stringfield(1974)가 제작한 PBQ(The Preschooler Behavior Questionnaire)를 번안하여 수정 사용한 김자숙(2000)의 질문지를 사용하였다. 마지막으로 아버지 양육참여도를 측정하기 위한 도구는 Lamb(1974), Bigner(1979), Brauch와 Barnett(1981)의 연구에서 사용한 남편의 양육참여 수준 측정 도구와 최경순(1993)의 질문지인 아버지 참여도 검사 도구를 수정 보완한 김정(2005)의 25문항으로 구성된 유아기 자녀를 둔 어머니가 지각한 아버지의 양육참여 도구를 사용하였다.
수집된 자료는 SPSS 18.0 통계프로그램을 활용하여 빈도분석을 비롯한 기술통계 방법을 실시하였고, 변인 간의 상관을 살펴보기 위해 상관분석을 실시하였으며, 어머니의 양육태도가 유아의 문제행동에 미치는 영향에 대한 아버지의 양육참여도의 매개효과를 알아보기 위해 Baron & Kenny가 제안한 단계에 따라 회귀분석을 실시하였고, 통계적 유의성 검증을 위한 Sobel test를 실시하였다.
이와 같은 절차에 따라 밝혀진 연구결과는 다음과 같다.
첫째, 어머니의 양육태도와 유아의 문제행동 간에는 어머니의 애정적 자율적 양육태도만이 유아의 문제행동과 부적상관을 나타냈다. 통제적 거부적 양육태도는 유아의 문제행동과 유의미한 상관이 나타나지 않았다. 어머니의 양육태도와 아버지의 양육참여도 간의 관계에서, 어머니의 애정적 자율적 양육태도와 통제적 거부적 양육태도 모두 아버지의 양육참여도와 정적 상관이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 어머니들이 자신의 양육태도와는 상관없이 아버지의 양육참여도를 인식하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 유아의 전체 문제행동은 아버지의 양육참여도와 유의미한 부적상관이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 즉, 아버지의 양육참여도가 높은 경우 유아의 문제행동이 덜 나타나는 것을 의미한다.
둘째, 어머니의 양육태도와 유아의 문제행동, 그리고 아버지의 양육참여도의 관계를 토대로 변인 간의 영향력 및 아버지의 양육참여도의 매개효과를 검증하였다. 먼저, 어머니의 양육태도 중 유아의 문제행동과 부적 상관이 있는 것으로 나타난 애정적 자율적 양육태도가 유아의 문제행동에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 다음으로, 어머니의 애정적 자율적 양육태도도 아버지의 양육참여도에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 어머니의 양육태도와 아버지의 양육참여도는 유아의 문제행동에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 어머니의 양육태도가 유아의 문제행동에 영향을 미치는 데 있어 아버지의 양육참여도가 완전매개 역할을 하는 것으로 나타났다.
결국, 어머니의 양육태도는 유아의 문제행동에 영향을 미치고, 이 과정에서 아버지의 양육참여도가 매개역할을 하는 것이 밝혀졌다. 이를 통해 아버지의 양육참여도의 중요성을 인식하고 아버지의 양육참여를 높일 수 있는 방안을 마련할 수 있어야 하겠다.
