To exploit and utilize water resources reasonably, gather 13 water quality parameters, including pH, Cl, Na, K, Mg, Ca, Mn, TDS, SO4, EC(electrical conductivity), TH(total hardness), Fe, , of 140 places in Liaoning Province. I use correlation analysis, factor analysis as well as cluster analysis of Multivariate statistics method to analyze groundwater in Liaoning. The result shows that pollution becomes serious from inland area to coastal area. From the score of factor analysis, we can see that Dalian where the score is 1.94 contaminates most seriously, on the other hand, Shenyang, which score is –0.62, belongs to the most slightly-contaminated city. Cluster analysis indicates that the pollution type in Dalian and Yingkou belongs to sea water pollution, and however others cities belongs to anthropogenic pollution group. Factor analysis demonstrates that contamination in Liaoning Province can be divided into sea water contamination, heavy metal contamination and nutrient contamination. Heavy metal and nutrient contamination accounts for 8% to 15%. To sum up, Multivariate statistics offers a new method and plays a pivotal role for water quality study.
