Abstract
The purpose of this study was to analyze the perception of a high school teacher on admissions officers. The research questions for the study were as follows. First, the subjects were limited to 324 high school teachers of Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongsangnam-do regions. Second, a questionnaire for this study did not examine the reason of the recognition research. Specific research questions in this study were as follows. First, what is the perception of high school teachers about the Admission Officer System? Second, is there a difference in the perception on the Admission Officer System depending on the background variables of a high school teacher. Third, is there any difference in recognition of the importance of screening data according to background variables of the high school teachers? Fourth, are there differences in perception about the level of connection between the educational activities of high schools and the Admission Officer System in accordance with the background variables of a high school teacher?
The study used F-analysis to determine the effectiveness of the background variables of a high school teacher, and Scheffe verification method was used to verify study results. In order to answer the research questions, a survey was conducted. Three hundred twenty four general high school teachers in Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongsangnam-do high schools participated in the survey. The main results were as follows. First, high school teachers showed high understanding of the admissions overall. Second, experienced high school teachers showed better understanding of the College Admission Officers than less experienced high school teachers. Third, national and public high school teacher believed that the Admission Officer System contributed to diversification and specialization of college admission screening methods and to the activation of the high school activities. Fourth, high school teachers with counseling experience about applying to colleges considered the score of the College Scholastic Ability Test less important. Fifth, high school teachers have recognized that there is a distance between high school education activities and the Admission Officer System. Eliciting sympathy from the high school teachers for the Admission Officer System is a very important task. Negative perceptions of high school teachers on the Admission Officer System is still remained. The cooperation between leading universities and high schools would help the Admission Officer System work with its original purpose or goal.
