경계선 성격장애에서의 공허감 척도개발 = Development of the Emptiness Scale for Borderline Personality Disorder

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 경계선 성격장애의 공허감을 측정하기 위한 척도를 개발하는데 목적을 두었다. Kernberg의 대상관계 이론을 바탕으로 조작적 정의를 하였고, 기존의 척도와 경계선 성격장애를 가지고 있는 사람들과의 심층면접을 통해 수집된 자료를 토대로 문항을 작성하였다. 탐색적 요인분석결과 34문항에 대해서 2요인으로 나타났고, 2요인은 관계상실과 통제결여로 명명하였다.
본 연구에서 공허감 척도의 준거타당도를 확인한 결과 경계선 성격장애, 우울, 자살사고와 상관이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 경계선 성격장애에 대한 연구가 활발하게 진행되고 있음에도 불구하고 ‘만성적 공허감’에 대한 평정자간 일치도가 낮고, 반구조화된 면담으로 확인하기 어려운 공허감 항목을 객관적으로 측정할 수 있는 도구는 없었다는 점에서 논문의 의의가 있다. 척도의 개발로 경계선 성격장애의 진단기준의 ‘만성적인 공허감’ 항목을 객관적으로 평가할 수 있게 되었다. 앞으로 공허감과 관련된 경험적 연구들이 활발해 질 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study is to develop a standard scale measurement for the emptiness related to the borderline personality disorder. Kernberg’s object relation theory was applied to define the theoretical concept of emptiness and the questionnaires were derived by combining the existing scales and in-depth interview data with people suffering from borderline personality disorder. As a result of the analysis, 2 factors appeared as the emptiness scales and defined as loss of relation and lack of control.
Conducting a criterion validity test of the emptiness scales returned a high correlation value between borderline personality disorder, depression and suicidal ideation. Despite the popularity of the study of borderline personality disorder, definition of “Chronic Emptiness” never met an agreement among evaluators and absence of objective measurement for the emptiness from semi-structured interview remained as a constraint.
This scale development will provide the objective diagnostic criteria for the 'chronic emptiness' which is essential to diagnose the borderline personality disorder. Hopefully, this study can inspire following experimental studies about emptiness related factors.
