Advance of information technology, the environment surrounding the archives has rapidly changed. Because of the development of internet, the users prefer online access to offline access.
The new paradigm in record management is to meet diversification of user by expanding web-based archival services.
Physical, intellectual, and logical management system about records has not service-orientation. Responding to this change of social needs, archives also need to provide services as the users' need. It is required that archives should try to provide the services which users want and work out a strategy for sustainable relationship between users and archives, through grasping the needs of users.
With theses grounds and some applied demographical segmentation variables derived from the existing archival science field, the users of the Archives are divided largely into the inside users and outside users, or specifically into sex, social states, educational level.. etc.
This paper under these circumstances aims to propose that Demos-Archive play its role, that is the specific reference services on the types of users pattern based on the results from [the appliacation of reading and rental archive] written by user and [reference service report by archivist] in the Demos archives.
Classifying user's patterns means to put a focus on segmenting the users' needs, because it's not possible to conduct any segmentations without grasping their needs.
This paper divided the types of users into 4. First, the reference services for teachers, professors and student and, Secondy, users for business use , and Lastly, user for study and research.
In chapter 2, the meaning of reference services was defined, and the conversion of current system was also mentioned
In chapter 3, the present situation and problems of reference service of Demos- Archives were analysed and the users were subdivided.
Using the data which was deducted in chapter 3, customer-centered service providing strategies which are targeting the core users of the archives were discussed in chapter 4.
This study attempted to develop suitable services for the users of the archives in order to transfer the information of records to the users more efficiently and easily. It tried to find various and detailed service policies which increase the frequency of use and the reputation of the archives.
It is expected that this research could give a chance to review the existing service polices and contribute to designing the reference service strategies on type of users of the archives which is aiming the services to public.
