내현적 자기애가 사회적 상호작용 불안에 미치는 영향: 평가염려 완벽주의의 매개효과 = The Effects of Covert Narcissism on Social Interaction Anxiety: The Mediating effects of Evaluative Concerns Perfectionism

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 내현적 자기애가 사회적 상호작용 불안에 미치는 영향을 살펴보고, 내현적 자기애가 사회적 상호작용 불안에 영향을 미칠 때 평가염려 완벽주의의가 매개변인의 역할을 하는지를 검증하였다.
이를 위하여 서울, 경기, 강원 A지역의 직장인 및 대학원생을 대상으로 설문을 실시하였고, 총 437부를 분석에 사용하였다. 측정도구로는 내현적 자기애 척도(CNS), 사회적 상호작용 불안 척도(SIAS), 평가염려 완벽주의 척도를 사용하였다. 평가염려 완벽주의 척도는 실수에 대한 염려 및 수행에 대한 의심 척도, 사회적으로 부과된 완벽주의 척도, 불일치 척도로 구성되었다.
본 연구의 연구결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 내현적 자기애와 평가염려 완벽주의, 사회적 상호작용 불안의 관계에서 하위요인을 포함하여 모든 변인 간에 통계적으로 유의미한 정적 상관이 나타났다. 둘째, 내현적 자기애가 평가염려 완벽주의를 유의미하게 예측하였으며, 내현적 자기애 하위요인 중 과민/취약성 요인이 평가염려 완벽주의에 미치는 영향이 가장 높은 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 내현적 자기애는 사회적 상호작용 불안을, 평가염려 완벽주의는 사회적 상호작용 불안을 각각 통계적으로 유의미하게 예측하였다. 넷째, 내현적 자기애가 사회적 상호작용 불안에 미치는 영향에서 평가염려 완벽주의가 부분 매개하는 것으로 나타났다.
본 연구는 내현적 자기애가 사회적 상호작용 불안에 미치는 영향에서 평가염려 완벽주의가 매개변인의 역할을 한다는 것을 밝힘으로써 내현적 자기애자의 심리적 특성을 이해하고 상담자의 치료적 개입에 있어서 시사점을 제공하였다. 끝으로 본 연구의 제한점과 후속연구를 위한 제언을 논의하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The primary purpose of this study was both to examine the effects of covert narcissism on social anxiety and to verify whether or not evaluative concerns perfectionism played a role of mediation effects when covert narcissism affected social interaction anxiety.
For this research a questionnaire was conducted among the salaried men/women and graduate students in Seoul, Gyeonggi province, and "D" region of Gangwon province and the total of 437 questionnaires were used. The measurement tools such as Covert Narcissism Scale(CNS), Social Interaction Anxiety Scale(SIAS), and Evaluative Concerns Perfectionism Scale(ECPS) were utilized. The Evaluative Concerns Perfectionism Scale(ECPS) consists of doubt scale of anxiety and accomplishment on mistake, socially levied perfectionism scale, and inconsistency scale.
The results can be summarized as follows:
Firstly, all the variables of covert narcissism, evaluative concerns perfectionism, and relation of social interaction anxiety, including their sub-factors, showed the statistically significant and positive correlation. Secondly, it proved significant that covert narcissism predicted evaluative concerns perfectionism and that hypersensitivity/vulnerability among the sub-factors of covert narcissism had the greatest positive effects on evaluative concerns perfectionism.
Thirdly, it proved significant that covert narcissism predicted the social interaction anxiety and that evaluative concerns perfectionism also predicted the social interaction anxiety.
Fourthly, the results made from the multiple regression analysis, which was used to verify the mediation effects of evaluative concerns perfectionism, showed that the effects of covert narcissism on social interaction had the partial mediation effects on evaluative concerns perfectionism.
This study seemed to shed the insights of understanding the psychological characteristics of covert narcissisists and the therapeutic intervention of counselors upon such a understanding by proving that evaluative concerns perfectionism played a role of mediations in correlation of covert narcissism with social interaction anxiety.
Finally, the limitations of this study and suggestions for follow-up research are further discussed.
