The study aims to seek its effect on their anger control through planning and applying the mindfulness mediation to young soldier of the new generation.
The participants for the research were 40 soldiers who attended a military buddhist sanctuary located in Y city. participants consist of each 20 experiment group members and 20 control group members. The mindfulness meditation program was applied to the experiment group with their consent while the conventional buddhist program was applied to the control group. In order to get the average value of both groups, pretest and posttest for anger control and mindfulness were conducted.
The survey devices used for the study are Mindfulness measurement by Park Sung Hyun(2006) based on Vipassana and K-STAXI measurement developed by Spielberger(1988) and standardized in Korean by Jeon Kyeom Gu(1996).
The collected data was analyzed through SPSS/PC for Windows 12.0. To get general traits of the participants, the frequency analysis was used for outputting frequency and percentage and the t-test(Independent samples t-test) was used for homogenisty between the experiment group and control group. To find whether the mindfulness meditation improved the anger control, I conducted t-test(Paired samples t-test) between pretest and posttest, generated a new variable excluding pretest point from the posttest point and then executed the independent samples t-test.
The result is:
First, After applying to the mindfulness mediation program re-designed for younger solders of the new generation, it was more positive than before for improving their mindfulness. Subordinate factors such as concentrating attention, unconditional acceptance, recognition of the present and decentering attention improved and especially, 'recognition of the present' had statically meaningful improvement after the mindfulness mediation.
Second, the control factor increased expression factor decreased more in the experiment group than in the control group and it indicates the mindfulness mediation program has an effect on anger control.
