I studied thoughts, changes and activities of leaders in Honam Righteous Army after 1907. The developing ideas of Ki Sam-Yeon and Go Kwang-Sun who acted in 1907 were effected by a family custom and they launched Righteous army with continuing activities of Righteous army in 1895 and 1905. Social position of Jeon Hae-San, Sim Nam-Il, Lee Seok-Yong who acted in succession was the nobility. However, they were not different with farmers in aspect of financial condition. In their activities, there are many activities for farmers because of their financial condition.
After 1907, the main thought of Honam righteous army was Wijeong-Cheoksa thought(衛正斥邪思想). It is thought that tried to protect Sung-Ri Confucianism(性理學) of Joseon, rejecting the West and Japan which were thought by barbarian. Ki Sam-Yeon, Jeon Hae-San, Lee Seok-Yong thought justice of Righteous army as protection of confusianism's values.
Jeon Hae-San, Lee Seok-Yong had Cheoksa thought(衛正斥邪思想). However they thought that Japan was enemy that we had to drive away, but they had friendly way about the West. The changes of cognition like this show that Wijeong-Cheoksa thought(衛正斥邪思想) perceives the realities, getting rid of an ideal nature.
Yang ban Confucian scholar(兩班儒生) is leader of Righteous Army Movement. However, after 1907 the Captain of commoner's righteous army appeared in Honam righteous army and Ahn Gyu-Hong is typical person. Yang ban participated in composing his organization. However, it could know that trouble of status was going to disappear from the viewpoint of Yang ban's participating, who formed leader ago.
I can classify these as three types about Honam righteous army. First, Honam righteous army resisted plundering of Japan. Honam righteous army rejected effluence of crops toward Japan as act of resisting. It also resisted possessing land throughout attack of japanese farm. It destroyed structures which Japan tried to construct to steal crops. Furthermore, It also destroyed telegraph and electric wire constructed by Japan to plunder.
Second, Honam righteous army resisted about plundering of government and landowner. As government reinforced feudal plunder through Land Survey and Registration Project(量田地契事業). Honam righteous army regarded collecting taxes as activity which helped colonialization of Japan, so Honam righteous army denounced government's pro-Japanese activities such as attack of collector of taxes. Honam righteous army resisted landowner's plunder like robbery of landowner's crops.
Third, Honam Righteous army enforced protection activities of residents. Honam Righteous army spreaded out protection activities of residents, for example, it reinforced military discipline not to be damaged by residents and tracked down fake righteous army. Thanks to Honam righteous army's protection activities of residents, they used to fight Japanese with Honam righteous army such as providing foods and informations in response of Honam Righteous army's activities.
After 1907, alterations of Honam Righteous army changed Righteous army movement from ideological movement to realistic movement. Commoners appearing as leader, Righteous army movement had been an anti-japanese struggle and dissipated status' conflicts. In Honam Righteous army movement, resistances of government and landowner are to overcome absences of reform willing which are pointed out by limitation of Righteous army and response of commoners about Righteous army has great significances in terms of spreading Righteous army as national movement.
