Young-jin Oh who was a scenario writer in the Japanese colonialism era decided films for his country and people. Studies on his scenarios were mostly focused on Young-jin Oh as a writer, the scenarios, and materials in his works he used to wrote on. But, there has been no studies on scenarios of Young-Jin Oh about 'Public experiences by the aesthetic' which this study is going to deal with.
What is presented in scenarios are the aesthetic experiences of the public because they are created based on the popularity. The public has collective and universal desires. The writer creates a world that presents their external situations and emotional experiences to satisfy those desires
There should be studies about external situations of the time to deal with the popularity. This study takes late 1950s as the external situation of <The Wedding Day> and <Life Attachment> when the movies were made.
The society of 1950s was chaotic ― crashes of the ideology, the chaos of the society and the uncertainty about when a war would occur again. There were people in the South Korea who could not go back to their hometown after moving south to avoid the war.
Young-jin Oh considered this as a good turning point for a new beginning. He thought people who sacrificed for the good of the society led the country. These thoughts related with his background of growth. He grew up with seeing his father, Yoon-sun Oh, who worked for his people and country with other leaders during the Japanese colonialism.
Young-Jin Oh wanted a new world centered on the human sincerity, not one powered by families nor capitals. he created the world of sincerity throughout his works.
There are characters who show new values for a new world and can act under that value in his scenarios. These characters, again, clean out negative characters who is know as pro-Japanese Korean and hinder the new coming world. Young-jin oh, by these, satisfied the desires the public held and created a meaningful world of hope.
When he created works, he tried to communicate with the public by using customized popular protocols. These protocols become internalized by schematic structures for communications and repetitive experiences of the characters. Therefore, to study the popularity of the scenarios, it was required to clarify the schematic customs and emotional experiences of the public.
It was found that Young-jin Oh perfectly follows the schema of public culture. His scenarios have dichotomy of good and evil Characters are presented for events based on this structure. By using the characters, he emotionalized the public desires with humors. Also, he made the good characters win, and the bad characters fall, using lies as the tools for the happy ending. Young-jin Oh made appeared leader have vested rights to work for the new era. These characters know how to find people for the new era and how to lead them as well. All of these facts show Young-jin Oh had positive thoughts about the society he lived.
To study the popularity of Young-jin Oh's scenarios, the thesis showed his scenarios as extended narrative literatures and texts for the public arts. This analyzed the scenarios with customary literature system and aesthetic experiences of the public culture.
Accordingly, Young-jin oh was a scenario writer who clearly focused on hope with full realizations of the public literature in <The Wedding Day> and <Life Attachment> and tried to show aesthetic worlds to the public. he also let the public find for the national harmony through humors and showed wills to clean out the negative powers.
The results of the study are as following.
First, Young-Jin Oh's works, <The Wedding Day> and <Life Attachment>, show his personality with characteristics of the belletristic. There also shows the aesthetic world of the public art.
Second, <The Wedding Day> and <Life Attachment> are scenarios which show insinuations and laughs in the clear thesis.
Third, the aesthetic world in <The Wedding Day> and <Life Attachment> which the public can experience laughs the author intend to. These works show what the author actually aspire which is the union of the his people.
Fourth, all of Young-Jin Oh's scenarios including <The Wedding Day> and <Life Attachment> are based on the patriotism.
Fifth, Young-Jin Oh shows strong will to clear the negative old generation through Official Kim and Doctor Han who are characters in <The Wedding Day> and <Life Attachment>.
Sixth, the modern period which Young-Jin Oh used for <The Wedding Day> and <Life Attachment> as backgrounds was like chaos. We can see the author ― Young-Jin Oh was hopeful about the future of the Korea.
Seventh, Young-Jin Oh as a director of movies and plays, as a politician and as a author had lots of experiences and wide view about the world. His works shows his characteristics like this.
