The existing rock blasting & expansive demolition agents methods that applied to small and midium sizes of rocks & concrete demolition have caused diverse problems such as dirty scattering, noise, tremor, public complaints, environment destruction, waste treatment, and so this researcher examined the possibility of rock demolition by using the expansibility of dried woods which are environment friendly and high in recycling rate and economical to solve such problems. Test & analysis were done through quantitative measurement of swelling pressure of compressed woods at high temperature in a microwave, and comparative analysis of it with rock density & existing expansive demolition agents' expansive pressure to find out their application as demolition materials of environment friendly and high in recycling rate and following are the results.
    (1) The randomly chosen Teak, Beech, Maple broadleaf trees for a preliminary test were rapidly heated, compressed and then tested of their capabilities of demolishing PVC tube and concrete blocks and the result was seen that only maple tree could do that with the time taken for demolition of 180~360minutes after functioning. It seemed to be attributed to the Maple tree' s weight, density & surface hardness, and porosity due to dryness all of which were higher compared with them of other two trees which raise the swelling pressure by moisture absorbtion after dry. compression.
    (2) Ash and Oak that quite similar to maple in properties was additionally heated and dried in a microwave as the final test and showed the results that it needed 2kw of outputs, 2~3 minutes heating time to get the target drying-moisture content(4~6%) and heating temperature(below 100℃), the satisfied condition for flexible compression and higher swelling property of the processed woods. And the test specimen that could be compressed by compression molding of φ 45 after heating. drying showed φ50 and φ55 irrespective of tree species and the test specimen of φ60 got out greatly of the average capacity range of contraction percentage of woods revealing the impossibility of compression.
    (3) The swelling pressure showed to increase continually as time goes by, and the bigger woods appeared to have the higher swelling pressure disregarding the tree species. And Ash showed very high swelling pressure compared with the Maple or Oak, and the Ash test specimen of φ50 hydrating sodium hydroxide aqueous solution appeared to have similar swelling pressure to that of the test specimen φ55 hydrating general tap water. It seemed to have caused by the increased swelling pressure by the alkaline ion of sodium hydroxide that has penetrated the lumen & cellular walls of woods, and the swelling pressure appeared to be complicated condition by corresponding with the elastic energy of densely compressed test specimen.
    (4) The maximum swelling pressure of the test specimen and the tensile strength of rock were compared and it showed that φ55 Ash and Oak exceeded the range of average tensile strength of the target rock, and in the test specimen hydrating sodium hydroxide aqueous solution appeared to have exceeded the average tensile strength of the rock in the whole test specimen excepting Maple. When compared with the swelling pressure of expansive demolition agents, the test specimen that containing tap water appeared to be inferior to the swelling pressure of demolition agents, but in test specimen containing hydrating sodium hydroxide aqueous solution, φ55 Ash & Oak and φ50 Ash appeared to be similar or superior to the swelling pressure of demolition agents. Provided the swelling pressure of test specimen should be similar to the strength of rock or the swelling pressure of demolition agents, as a realistic demolition requires very high swelling(expansion), Ash seems to be able to act as a demolition material for boulder blasting in demolishing rock.
