KBS 대하드라마 <대조영>의 '이문 장군' 역할에 대한 연기 접근방법연구 : 작품 발표를 중심으로 = A Practical Study of an Approach to Acting 'General Lee Moon' in KBS TV Drama <Daejoyoung> : Focused on the Production

This thesis sets out to analyze the process of building a character named 'General Lee Moon' to examine the patterns of practical application to TV acting theories on the field, and to discuss the limitations by consulting previous studies on TV acting. I also attempted to pay attention to investigation into the methods to approach a historical drama acting in terms of practical basis.
I played a role of 'General Lee Moon' in KBS TV Drama <Daejoyoung> during one and half years until last year. This thesis is my own narrative of a production of <Daejoyoung> as well as an actor's note. Therefore, this one is actors' exploration of a historical drama through acting in the field for a long time. For instance, I examined that how to understand the script and conduct preliminary analysis to create my roles effectively and build my character in terms of a historical drama on TV. I specify my character in a more three-dimensional manner by identifying the internal goals and external conditions of their characters. I believe that it is essential for an actor to understand the process of delivering his intentions to the audience so that it becomes main themes of my thesis. An actor can make the delivery with no distortions, and thus help to narrow the gap between the audience and him by understanding third technical elements such as shooting, editing, and sound in a historical drama.
Chapter one suggests the purpose and background of my research and the range and ways of my thesis.
Chapter two of this thesis examines what is consisted of a historical drama production <Daejoyoung>, the production concept, director's note, a synopsis, and the analysis of major characters including my role.
Chapter three has five sections: firstly, understanding the periodic background and characteristics of a historical drama, secondly, the special quality of acting the historical drama in terms of Shakespearean approach to acting, thirdly, the special aspects of TV acting focused on shooting, editing, sound, fourthly, understanding and preparing fight acting as an skillful actor, fifthly, establishing physical action in terms of emphasizing visual business and changing outer shape through costume, makeup, etc. as an actor in the production process.
Chapter four covers reflections of the process and performance.

I believe that an actor goes through very complex and diverse psychological conflicts on the field acting his role. Although there were many acting methods, they are not good enough to help him because the theories of acting and role creation are usually speculative and theoretical. I hope this thesis would be practically helpful to actors who work in the historical drama field.
