사례를 통해 본 전쟁종결에 관한 연구 = A Study on The Case of Conditions for The Ends of War

Although there has been various studies on general's leadership and what causes a war, studies on the end of war are not good enough. The end of war, however, is very important as well as interesting. For example, even though the U.S. declared the end of Iraq war only after 43 days from the first attack in 2003, it is still making much efforts without evident outcomes of stabilities. One of the reason for that is there was not an adequate end of war at that time.
A study on the end of war may provide a systematic approach method on a form of end of war, conditions and a proper time. It is applicable to inter-Korean peace agreement and conflicts against other nations.
For the purpose mentioned above, this paper thus attempts to provide analysis framework through a theoretical study on war and the end of war. It also identifies the key factors on the end of war from the studies on the reasons of war and cases of the end of war. Additionally, it shows how the end of war influences an international order.
The results of this study are as followings.
First, this study established analysis framework through diverse researches on the end of war. It examined variables which influence the end of war based on the studies by Lewis A Coser, Carroll and Jonghak Lee. The variables of the end of war was divided into two categories: external factors(an international order after war and internatinal opinions) and internal factors(politics, capabilities to wage war and unity of the people.) The way of the end of war was limited to the conditions that there was a peace treay in case of obvious win and lose based on the studies by Paul R. Pillar, Takamine Hideyuki, Changil On and Youngjun Park.
Second, it identified the reasons why the nations entered the war(the First and Second World War, the Gulf War and the Iraq War) from the view of winner nations based on the analysis framework, and analyzed national and military strategy. After that, how those strategies affected the end of war was examined.
Lastly, this study drew prior considerations for the end of war, modern and future war, through analyzing the process and form of the end of war, how the key factors for them and the way of the end of war influenced a post-war international order.
