The current study verified appropriateness of maintaining after isometric contraction and sought reasonable maintaining method after isometric contraction that can be applied to those with normal physical strength and excellent physical strength in order to provide an alternative to sit-ups that has been performed traditionally for measuring abdominal muscle endurance. The study results will be used as assessment method for muscle endurance in clinical rehabilitation field, and for those in various age groups and various physical conditions.
The following are study results made on the basis of the above research.
1. Men showed low correlations between aerobic ability and muscle endurance ability, while women showed high correlations.
2. Maintaining method after isometric contraction, not sit-ups, can be used to compare correlations between aerobic ability and muscle endurance ability. At this time, the angle of an incline plane should be 40°.
3. In case of using maintaining method after isometric contraction, the angle of an incline plane should be 40° or 30° for better effect, not over 50°.
4. Maintaining method after isometric contraction can be used as a tool to measure abdominal muscle endurance.
From the results gained from the current study, it is believed that the measurement method of muscle endurance with safety and appropriateness can be used in schools and sports field as well as rehabilitation fields after surgery. Also consistent efforts are necessary in order to find the most appropriate incline plane for those who will use it.
