This study examined the validity of Basic Empathy Scale (BES), a new empathy scale, which was made to overcome the conflicts between friends of the teenagers by positive social relationship with the empathy.
For this, questionnaires were administered to 820 boys' middle school students of 22 classes of 5 middle schools in Changwon, Masan, Kimhae and Tongyoung, Kyungsangnamdo.
The results of this study were as follows:
first, adolescents’ emotional empathy validity was negatively influenced to the aggressive behavior and was positively influenced to prosocial behavior, then adolescents’ cognitional empathy validity was negatively influenced to the aggressive behavior and was positively influenced to prosocial behavior.
Second, conflict resolution, conflict engagement, withdrawal were positively influenced after controlling empathy validity of adolescents.
Conflict engagement was negatively influenced to the prosocial behavior and Positive conflict resolution was positively influenced to the prosocial behavior.
Third, Positive conflict resolution of the teenagers was confirmed by meditation effect of the emotional empathy, aggressive behavior and prosocial behavior.
Forth, positive conflict resolution of the teenagers was confirmed by meditation effect of the cognitional empathy validity, aggressive behavior and prosocial behavior.
Empathy understanding brings reduction of aggression by enriching in understanding by means of the emphasis of others' emotion. but it is in need of proving that empathy understanding can reduce aggressive tendency through psychological effect of the something special
In sum, this study showed that empathy validity of the adolescents was influenced to the aggressive behavior and prosocial behavior. positive conflict resolution turned out meditation effect from the empathy validity of the adolescents.
