The purpose of this study is to identify influence of parent-children communication, self-esteem and irrational belief on emotion in adolescent.
First purpose is to investigate the effects of self-esteem on the relationship between parent-children communication and depression. Second purpose is to investigate the effects of irrational belief on the relationship between parent-children communication and depression. Third purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of self-esteem on the relationship between parent-children communication and anxiety. Fourth purpose is to investigate the effects of irrational belief on the relationship between parent-children communication and anxiety.
387 high school students were participated to examine the moderating and mediating effects of self-esteem and irrational belief.
Results showed that the half-effects of self-esteem on the relationship between open family communication and depression was found. Correlation between parent-children communication and self-esteem was positive, but correlation between parent-children communication and irrational belief was negative. Open communication and self-esteem was positive correlation, problems in family communication and depression and anxiety was negative correlation.
