The purpose of this study is to explore the subjective perception of workers from local self-sufficiency center concerning participants, categorize this, and suggest possible ways to improve self-sufficiency programs.
With 27 statements related to self-sufficiency program participants, Q sorting was conducted to 11 workers from local self-sufficiency centers. Through Q methodology, three types and features of their subjective perception about ‘self-sufficiency program participants’ turned out as follows. The first type was called ‘the type of integrated service provision’. Second type was called ‘the type of participant education orientation’. Third type was called ‘the type of staying at self-sufficiency program.’
The results of the present study have several implications. First of all, self-sufficiency program should take into account different needs and capabilities of the participants. Second, it is necessary to educate on the basis of participant. Third, it is necessary to enlarge various labor attracting systems in self-sufficiency program.
