Chugang Nam Hyo-On climbed Jiri mountain from September 27th to October 13th in 1487(eighteenth year of King Seongjong) at the age of thirty four. After that he recorded mountain travelogue called Jirisan Ilgwa. His teacher Kim Kong-Jik had written Yuduryurok after climbing Jiri mountain fifteen years before and Tak Young, Kim Il-Son, another pupil of Kim Jong-Jik, wrote Sokduryurok or Duryu Travelogue two years after that. Besides them, followers of Kim Jong-Jik such as Jo-Wi. Yu Ho-In. Kim Gweng-Pil. Jeong Yeo-Chang. Hong Yu-Son. Yang Jun climbed Jiri mountain. It was no accident that they went sightseeing to Jiri mountain and recorded their itinerary and impressions. It seems that there must have been strong concept of the consciousness of kind among Sinjinsaryu(newly established scholars) such as Kim Jong-Jik and his followers in the late fifteen century. However keeping in mind that homogeneity we need to endeavor to read more in detail their reasons of climbing, subtle tremor of feelings and changes in mountain sightseeing in the middle of life journey. Some stories that they heard and wrote were interesting such as The Legend of Okbogo (geomungo. six string instrument) at Chilbulsa Temple, The Legend of Yeongijosa and his mother at Hwaumsa Temple. The Legend of Choi Chi-Won`s Hermitage at Ssanggyesa Temple. It appears that the scholar Choi Chi-Won left behind his teachers and scholar friends who were of the same mind once and secluded himself and left behind old mother and his family due to family`s ordeals. It seems that he expresses feelings of his wandering life and inner longings to let down worries and soothe his weary body and soul. Jib Mountain appeases the idealist`s deep hurt with soothing hands who submitted appeal to the government and got discouraged in his younger years. These aspects were distinct from other newly established scholars, which is coming from Nam Hyo-On`s personal life experience. These findings not only shows the limitations of grand narrative to reduce individual experience to group consciousness, but also awakens to more thorough and substantial reexamination of an individual scholar.
