The essay analyzed the south-korean party system since democratization to the end of Roh Moo-Hyun government by considering both history and environment factors and actor factors and then presented prospects of its change. South Korea`s party system was influenced by democratization from the beginning and has rapidly stepped the process of alignment, consolidation, crisis and dealignment with responsing to the political and social change. For 10 years after the democratization the conservative regionalist cartel party system which successor parties of the dictatorship formed monopoly and oligopoly in and was based on regionalistic mobilization and anti-communism ideology has been aligned and consolidated. For the following 10 years the system faced a crisis and entered into the process of dealignment through division of conservatives, weakening of regionalism and change of socioeconomic conditions, election system and voter`s attitudes. It is premature to affirm the realignment of the party system, but it is able to prospect its possible changes. First, competition system between authoritarian anti-communist conservative party, authoritarian (neo-)liberal conservative party and progressive party; second, competition composition of authoritarian anti-communist conservative party, anti-authoritarian (neo-)liberal conservative party and progressive party.
