In this thesis, I studied the ideal way of education for a classical narrative adapted in the play or the screenplay. The narrative adapted in the play or the screenplay should evaluated if the work reflect the demand of the age. Particularly, I researched the Korean folktale, Agijangsuiyagi (the story of child hero) and In-hoon Choi`s play, Yetnalyetjeoke Hwoihwoi, which is an adaptation of Agijangsuiyagi. Choi`s play is included in two different textbooks for high school students and can be interpreted in two different ways. However, the textbooks contain only one interpretation each of the play. I attempted to incorporate Hyun-mok Yu`s film scenario, Yetnalyetjeoke Hwoihwoi, in the textbooks` content. The film is adapted from Choi`s play. When folktales are adapted into a play or a film, we should check whether the alterations are suitable to the media`s characteristics. However, the most important factor is that the students will be able to read the contents of the textbooks without watching the play or the film. In this regard, Yetnalyetjeoke Hwoihwoi will be an effective narrative to be introduced in high school textbooks.
