월경(越境)과 서사(敍事) - 동아시아의 서사 체험과 "이웃"의 기억(記憶) -「최척전(崔陟傳)」독법의 한 사례- = Border-Crossing and Narrative - Narrative Experiences and Memories of "Neighbors" in East Asia -A Reading of A Story of Choe Cheok-

국문 초록 (Abstract)

「최척전」은 체험 서사를 통해 동아시아 전란에서 겪는 민의 고통과 가족의 이산을 보여준다. 그럼에도 불구하고 인간이 극한 상황 속에서도 지켜야할 인생의 가치와 삶이 무엇인지를 일깨워준다. 이와 함께 인간의 심성에 자리 잡은 인간애로 가족의 이산과 전란의 상흔을 극복한다. 이는 동아시아 각국의 따뜻한 이웃이 있기에 가능하였다. 「최척전」은 동아시아 공간의 각국 민들은 낮선이웃이나 타자를 배제하는 모습이 아니다. 이는 다른 서사문학이 발견하지 못한방향이다. 무엇보다 따뜻한 이웃의 시선과 인간애는 국가 권력이나 이념과는 무관하다. 무엇보다 「최척전」은 전란으로 상흔을 가진 민에게 삶의희망과 평화의 메시지를 주는 작품인 바, 여기서 우리는 동아시아 공동체의 싹을 엿볼 수 있다. 「최척전」이 서사문학사에서 독특한 위상을 지니는 것은 이 때문이다. 전근대서사에서 `동아시아`를 상상할 때, 「최척전」의 기억해야 하는 이유이기도 하다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

A Story of Choe Cheok shows the people`s traumatic experiences in the transnational war of East Asia and family separations during the war through their own voices and through their own personal memories. Also, this story enlightens us with the values of life we should follow even in extreme situations. In this story, the characters went beyond family separations and war traumas with human love. This would not have been possible without warm-hearted neighbors throughout East Asia. The East Asian people represented in A Story of Choe Cheok had no attempts to alienate foreign neighbors or others. This was a new tendency other narrative literatures did not pursue. Most of all, this kind of a point of view of warm-hearted neighbors and humanity did not have any connections with the state power and ideology. Moreover, we can see a kind of a sprout of "East Asian communities" through A Story of Choe Cheok in which the messages of hope and peace weredelivered to the people who suffered from the war. This is why A Story of Choe Cheok should be placed on a unique position in our narrative history. For this reason, one should not forget A Story of Choe Cheok, if imagining "East Asia" by reading premodern narratives.
