영국 블레어 정부의 정치사상에 대한 분석 및 한국에의 함의 = Analysing Political Ideology of Blair Government and its implication for Korea

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

In terms of social policy discussion in Korea, Britain has appeared as one of the most interesting examples, for instance, in social investment debate. It might be because Britain has shown ‘institutional initiative’ by establishment of new paradigm in social policy through new political ideology. Therefore, it is not surprising that not only many Western academics but also commentators in Korea have had considerable interest in British political ideology. However, it is surprising that there has been few attempt to analyse these ideologies with rigorous evidences and systematic approach even though little consensus is found among them. Therefore, this research is to define the political ideology of Blair’s New Labour Government by analysing major political texts such as Blair’s high profile political speeches, writing, and election manifestos with comprehensive analytical framework encompassing multi-dimensional factors such as contemporary challenges, objectives, political philosophy, actors, citizenship, and major strategies. In this process, they are compared to Thatcherism and Old Labour’s texts in order to achieve critical understanding in historical context as well as its implications for Korea.
