朝鮮時代 宮中 宴享에 裝飾된 綵花에 관한 硏究 : 조선시대 궁중 연향 장식된 채화에 관한 연구 = A Study of Chae-hwa for Royal Feasts during the Chosun Dynasty

국문 초록 (Abstract)

꽃은 예(禮)를 거행하는 크고 성대한 의식에서 없어서는 안 될 가장 중요한 품목이다. 꽃은 아름답고 화려하며 영화로운 일에는 빠짐없이 사용되어 행사의 품격과 운치를 더해주는 역할을 한다. 꽃으로 의식의 장소를 화려하게 장식하고, 꽃을 바치는 행위는 예우를 받는 사람에 대한 최고의 정중함을 나타내기 때문이다. 더구나 궁중연향과 같은 품위 있는 의례에서는 더욱 장엄한 역할을 하였다. 조선시대 궁중에서는 왕의 즉위, 왕이나 왕세자․왕손의 성혼, 책봉 등의 예식인 가례(嘉禮), 외국 사신과 왕실의 어른들에게 베푸는 연회 등 여러 가지 의식과 연향(宴享)이 있었다. 이러한 궁중연향에는 설행장소를 화려하게 장식하고 윗전에 대한 극진한 예우를 표현하기 위해 많은 꽃을 사용하였다. 궁중연향에서는 가화(假花)를 사용하였고 이러한 행사를 기록한 의궤(儀軌)에는 가화를 채화(綵花)라 기록하고 있다. 궁중연향에 쓰인 채화의 종류는 연꽃, 모란, 홍도화(桃花), 국화, 사계화, 월계화 등이 가장 많이 사용되었고, 포도, 복숭아, 유자, 감, 복분자 등의 열매 달린 가지들이 주류를 이루었다. 이들 꽃과 과일은 모두 장수(長壽), 부귀(富貴), 번화(繁華), 부덕(婦德), 다산(多産) 등의 상징적인 뜻을 내포하고 있어, 경축의 의미와 함께 길상의 의미를 더하여 윗전에 대한 극진한 마음을 표현하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Floral decoration is an indispensable element in any grand, majestic ceremony of courtesy. Flowers are found in every occasion with splendor and glory, and bring dignity and ambiance to the event. To decorate the venue of ceremony with flowers and to present flowers to someone of a high ranking represents the highest form of courtesy. In ceremonies like royal feasts, in particular, flowers added a sense of dignity to the atmosphere. Ceremonies and feasts took place at the royal court of the Chosun dynasty to celebrate a variety of royal events, such as coronations, royal weddings and appointments, and banquets were held to entertain foreign missionaries and elderly members of the royal court. For these events, flowers were used to decorate the venue and to pay the highest respect to persons of high status. Artificial flowers were used at the royal court, and they are referred to as "Chae-hwa" in the "Ui-gwe" (protocol for royal feasts). The "Chae-hwa"s most often used at royal feasts include lotus, tree peony, peach, chrysanthemum, "Sa-ge-hwa" and "Wol-ge-hwa", which were placed along with twigs with fruits from grapes, peaches, citrons, persimmons and wild berries. As these flowers and fruits were deemed to represent longevity, wealth, prosperity, womanly virtues and fertility, they were used for celebration, to wish good luck and to express heartfelt respect to persons of high status.
