This paper analyzes the dynamic changes of Korean top 200 enterprises in asset base from 1986 till 2006. The importance of top 200 enterprises in Korean economy has continuously increased during last 20 years, mainly due to the rapid growth of top 50 enterprises or big 4 Chaebols` affiliates. The turnover of 200 top enterprises has occurred mostly since the 1997 economic crisis, 71 enterprises out of top 200 in 1986 have experienced changes of controlling shareholders. Among them 39 enterprises have become affiliates of Chaebols in the process of privatization or restructuring. Among top 50 enterprises in 2006 there are 7 `young` enterprises established since 1981, which means the economic rigidity in Korea is less serious than in Sweden having no young top 50 enterprises during last 30 years. Only one young manufacturer, however, implies high entry barrier in manufacturing sector in Korea.
