간호연구에서의 현상학 = Phenomenology in Nursing Research

국문 초록 (Abstract)

간호학에서의 현상학은 현상학적 운동이 미국으로 건너가 간호학문에 수용되어 응용된 현상학이다. 그러나 간호현상학은 주류현상학과의 직접적인 대화와 토론을 통해서 간호학문에 수용한 현상학이라기보다는, 미국으로 건너간 주류현상학이 이미 사회학, 심리학, 교육학 등 다른 학문분야로 이식되면서 인본주의 심리학과 사회탐구의 여러 유형과 결합되어 형성된 현상학을 무비판적으로 받아들인 것이라는 비판을 받고 있다. 특히 후설의 현상학적 환원, 판단 중지, 형상적 환원 등의 개념이 본래의 의미대로 연구절차에 사용되지 않는 배후 에는 바로 일인칭의 기술에 의한 개인의 주관적인 경험에 대한 이해를 중요시하는 인본주의 심리학이 간호연구에 들어와 있기 때문인 것이다. 또한 하이데거식 현상학적 간호연구에서 발견되는 특정으로서 개인들이 공유하고 있는 환경과 문화적 관행에 대한 이해는 바로 사회적 상호작용에 의해 자아가 형성된다는 사회탐구의 유형에 영향을 받았음을 보여주고 있다. 따라서 이글은 간호에서의 현상학적 연구들을 후설과 하이데거의 현상학에 근거하여 비판적으로 검토해 보고, 본래의 현상학적 특징이 살아있는 간호연구의 길잡이 역할을 위한 현상학적 보기(phenomenological seeing)와 글쓰기를 제안해 보고자 하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

There are some criticism that phenomenology in nursing research reflects the American intellectual tradition far more than any features of main stream of phenomenological movement. The reason is that in being transplanted to the North America continent, phenomenology experienced significant mutation and was applied to fields such as psychology, sociology, and nursing. It can be said that nursing researchers used new phenomenological methods, which were influenced by the American intellectual tradition such as pragmatism, humanistic psychology and social symbolic interactionism. Specially according to Crotty and Paley, nursing researchers largely misunderstood Husserl's central idea, and as a result, their version of his philosophy beared little resemblance to the original. For that reason, humanistic psychology played a very significant role in determining how phenomenological nursing research was understood. Futhermore, Benner's Heideggerian phenomenology focused on 'a shared background of common meanings' in nursing research, it owed nothing to the phenomenological movement, but related to the symbolic interactionism as a form of social inquiry emanating from the thought of Mead. Therefore, this paper examines some critique regarding the phenomenological nursing research and then suggests a stepwise method for the phenomenological research that use the lived experience of nursing as an example.
