한문의 서사전통과 근대계몽기 신문의 서사 = The Narrative Tradition of Classical Chinese Literature and the Narratives in Newspapers of the Modern Enlightenment Period

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This essay illuminates the relatedness between the narrative styles taken into the articles in newspapers of the modern enlightenment period and the traditional narrative style of the classical Chinese writing. The modern narrative style found in the newspapers, especially in editorial article and miscellanies sections, cannot be regarded entirely as a modern product but as a style resulted from altering traditional narrative style of the classical Chinese writing. Short length of an article, narrative style, and transcribing style in the modern newspapers of the enlightenment period are all to be found in the traditional narrative style of the classical Chinese writing. Such styles gave influence to the formation of the early Korean modern novels. This essays argues that the narrative tradition of the classical Chinese literature has been transplanted in the modern narratives and it contributed to the advent of modern short novels.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 논문은 근대계몽기 신문에 보이는 서사와 한문학의 서사양식과의 관련성을 밝힌 글이다. 근대 계몽기 논설과 잡보란에 보이는 근대적 서사는 근대계몽시기에 생성된 것이라기보다, 한문의 서사 전통을 받아들여 이를 적절하게 활용한 점을 논하였다. 예컨대 독자와 신문이 만나는 것, 신문의 기사의 단편성, 그리고 발화방식과 표기방식은 한문 서사의 전통에서도 찾을 수 있다. 그리고 이러한 근대적 서사의 글쓰기는 근대소설의 기원으로 근대소설 형성의 매신저로 역할을 하였다. 이러한 점에서 한문의 서사전통은 근대에 이월되었고, 한문 서사 전통의 자양분은 근대 단편 문학의 성립에도 계기적으로 영향을 준 것으로 보인다.
