This study explores what is known about spiritual practices in connection to spiritual formation, which means to improve the quality of one"s relationship with God. Specifically, this study seeks to reveal the potential of practicing spiritual practices that facilitate improvement in the quality of one"s relational maturity with God. Based on the theological and biblical explorations and social science research, several insights are evident. First, sanctification is a process associated with all human dimensions. Second, sanctification purposefully motivates one"s life, cultivating spiritual formation and relationship with God. Third, this process requires not only God"s grace and the work of the Holy Spirit, but human effort, as well?training for godliness and exercising self-control. In addition, some practical suggestions for encouraging spiritual formation are offered to help people pursue formation into God"s holiness.
