On-Dal tale in the SamKuK SaKi is one among several tales very famillar with us, which is dealing with the accident in the period of King Pyeong-Won under KoKuRyu dynasty. This tale has been very popular to be talked by so many people for through 14 hundred years.
Although On-Dal tale is the works recorded about the personal history of On-Dal it is impossible to take the relative importance of princess Pyeong-Kang lightly. It could seem difficult to expect that ignoble, ugly, and coward On-Dal will grow a great man because On-Dal appeared Humorously in the former half of the story. But He appeared a historical great man to be brave and faithful for his country according to the proceeded accident after he had accepted princess Pyeong-Kang af wife in the latter half of the story.
By rewritting the story into ancient songs, peoms, novels, and plays for so long past times the chance came, through which the human status of On-Dal couple was seen popularly. In the On-Dal tale there are many sides in which to pay to our racial temperaments. So we can find the reasion that it should be appreciated as a main current of racial literature up to upper grade than literally literary value itself in the works when we study it.
The modern significance from On-Dal tale might be in his spouses effort by which to raalize creative humanity toward new world. On account of such causes it is necessary that the On-Dal tale should be rewrited as the another aspects including truth of human affection to be creative moivity.
