The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of existential group counseling. Subjects for this study were 3 male and 3 female university students.
Training procedure was divided into 3 parts: (1) assessment of self actualization tendency before existential group counseling, (2) existential group counseling, (3) assessment of self actualization tendency after existential group counseling.
The program for existential group counseling is made eight parts: (1) self-intro-duction and establishing trustful relationship, (2) encounter of I and Thou, (3) self-awarence, (4) awareness of freedom, choice, and responsibility, (5) self-growth through crisis and anxiety, (6) creation of meaning and value, (7) meaning of death, (8) concluding the program: evaluation of self-growth and program.
Students received eight 110 minutes for eleven weeks. The effects of existential group counseling were assessed two times by each subject using Self-Actualization Test by kim Jae Un & Lee Gwang Ja.
The effects of existential group counseling showed significient differences at the .05 leval in self actualization tendency (time competent and inner directed).
