In our study, we investigated the effects of slow-aging perception and the functional value on consumer purchasing behavior of functional cosmetics. We conducted an online survey with 250 adult men and women who had experience purchasing functional cosmetics from January 12 to February 15, 2026. We performed frequency analysis, reliability and validity tests, and regression analysis of the data using SPSS 29.0. From our results, we noted that slow-aging perception had a significant effect on the functional value and the functional value had a significant effect on the purchasing behavior. Slow-aging perception was also found to have a direct effect on the purchasing behavior.
Our findings suggest that a high level of slow-aging perception enhances the ability of consumers to recognize the functional value, which influences the purchasing behavior of functional cosmetics. Since slow-aging perception is an important variable that influences the consumer purchase decisions, the results of our study provide practical implications as foundational data to establish effective marketing strategies in the functional cosmetics market. Our findings also place an emphasis on healthy aging and preventive skincare.
