중국어 성어에 나타난 길이 도량 단위어의 인지의미 분석 = A Cognitive Construction Study of Length Measurement Units in Chinese Idioms

This study investigates traditional Chinese length units (里, 丈, 尺, 寸, 步, 厘, 毫) as they appear in Chinese idioms, focusing on their cognitive metaphorical mechanisms and semantic constructions. Based on Conceptual Metaphor Theory and Primary Metaphor Theory, the study analyzes how these units shift from concrete measurements to abstract cognitive schemas through metaphorical extension. The findings show that length terms systematically encode abstract meanings such as process, intensity, and evaluation, while also reflecting culturally embedded cognitive patterns. This research highlights the close interaction between measurement, cognition, and culture in Chinese idioms and contributes to the cognitive semantic study of Chinese vocabulary.
