This study aimed to design an extracurricular program to strengthen the AI and digital capabilities of prospective teachers and to verify its effectiveness through practical application. Prior studies on AI and digital capabilities as well as support measures for teachers were reviewed, and an extracurricular program was designed based on the findings. The program; featured lectures by subject-specific digital experts, hands-on experience in lesson design with mentoring by field teachers, and lesson demonstrations; it was implemented as part of the courses at D University's College of Education in the first semester of 2025. Pre- and post-test surveys were conducted to assess changes in teachers AI and digital capabilities. Survey results revealed significant changes in the subthemes of AI, digital technology-based instructional design (TCK and TPACK), assessment, and learner support. Conversely, items related to conceptual awareness, general attitudes, and emotional interaction with AI and digital technologies showed a tendency for post-test average increases, although these were not statistically significant. The extracurricular program designed in this study was significantly effective in strengthening the prospective teachers overall AI and digital capabilities, particularly their practical capabilities in lesson design, evaluation, and learner support. These findings provide empirical evidence for the development and operation of extracurricular programs for prospective teachers.
