The Awakening of Faith is an educational treatise on dispelling erroneous doubts and evil attachments to cultivate the correct faith and ensure continuity of the Buddhas’ lineage. Accordingly, readers of the treatise must be capable of engaging in the practice of dispelling doubt and relinquishing attachment. However, worldly desires for fame, material profit, or respect and honor render the text's discourse seemingly futile. In such circumstances, educators may prompt others to reflect on their minds through a life of practice. Within the atmosphere cultivated through the educator's way of life, people develop faith and begin to practice mental power. As a result, some people may read The Awakening of Faith as an educational text that guides their awakening by arousing faith. Within an educational relationship sustained by faith, people read and put into practice the teachings of The Awakening of Faith, thereby becoming educators in their own right. The novel educational relationships emerging from this process continually breathe new life into the treatise.
