This study used data of 1,486 second-year high school students from the 2023 (Wave 6) Jeonnam Education Longitudinal Study to identify latent profiles of adolescents’ academic motivation, examine predictors of profile membership, and compared mathematics achievement across profiles. Latent Profile Analysis(LPA) based on external, introjected, identified, and intrinsic motivation, as well as amotivation yielded three profiles: high motivation-amotivation mixed, low motivation-high amotivation, self-determined motivation dominant. Additionally, classroom engagement, school satisfaction, parent-child interaction, and parental academic support significantly predicted profile membership. Finally, mathematics achievement did not vary across profiles. These findings highlight motivation regulation profiles and the need for supporting motivation quality beyond achievement.
