국어교육 구술사 연구를 위한 시론 = A Preliminary Study on Oral History Research in Korean Language Education

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 국어교육사 연구에서 문헌 중심 역사 서술이 지니는 한계를 보완하고 국어교육 실천의 생생한 현실을 복원하기 위한 방법론적 대안으로서 구술사 연구를 제안하였다. ‘기획된 국어교육’의 거시사와 ‘실천된 국어교육’의 미시사 사이의 간극을 해소하기 위해, 본고는 구술사 연구의 필요성과 특성을 논의하고, 구체적인 연구 범위를 ‘국어교육의 실천 양상에 대한 주제사적 접근’과 ‘국어교육의 실천 주체에 대한 생애사적 접근’으로 구분하였다. 아울러 이 연구의 수행 절차를 ‘연구 기획 및 예비 조사, 구술자 선정 및 섭외, 면담 진행 및 채록, 자료 정리 및 분석, 아카이브 구축 및 연구 결과의 활용’의 다섯 단계로 체계화하여 제시하였다. 본 연구는 망각의 저편으로 잊혀져 가는 제1~3차 교육과정기 국어교육의 실천사를 구술 채록을 통해 복원하는 구술사 연구의 이론적·방법론적 토대를 마련했다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

This study proposes oral history research as a methodological alternative for overcoming the limitations of document-focused history in Korean language education and restoring the vivid reality of educational practice. To bridge the gap between “planned” and “practiced” education, this paper discusses the importance of oral history in linking written records to actual practice. The study divides the research scope into two categories: a “topical history approach” which focuses on specific educational activities, and a “life history approach” which focuses on the experiences of teachers and learners. Furthermore, it organizes the research process into five steps, from planning to archiving. This study establishes a theoretical foundation for writing a practical history of Korean language education by restoring the voices of marginalized people in the field.
