‘Dark Heritage’를 둘러싼 기억의 정치 : 난징학살 기록물, 위르겐 스트루프 보고서, 투올슬렝 학살박물관 기록물 사례를 중심으로 = The Politics of Memory Surrounding ‘Dark Heritage’ : Focusing on the Nanjing Massacre Document, the Jürgen Stroop Report, and the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum Archives

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 유네스코 세계기록유산으로 등재된 3건의 기록물-난징학살 기록물(2015), 위르겐 스트루프 보고서(2017), 투올슬렝 학살박물관 기록물(2009)-에 대한 기록물의 구성 및 특성 등을 토대로 기록학의 가치를 비교 분석하였다. 이들 기록물은 각각 중일전쟁, 홀로코스트, 캄보디아 대학살이라는 최악의 인권유린사건을 담고 있다는 공통점을 가지고 있지만 피해자의 증언, 가해자의 공식 기록, 가해자의 체계적 문서화 시스템이라는 서로 다른 관점과 형태로 구성되어 있다는 차별성도 지닌다. 본 연구는 이들 세 기록물의 특성을 분석하고, 2017년 이후 등재 절차 개정으로 인한 정치화 문제를 비판적으로 검토하였다. 본고에서는 'Dark Heritage'에 해당하는 3건의 기록물을 기록학적 가치 평가 이론에 근거하여 비교 분석하고, 'Dark Heritage' 기록물의 현재적 의미를 상기하고자 하였다.

This study conducted a comparative analysis of the archival value of three UNESCO Memory of the World Register entries—the Nanjing Massacre Archives(2015), the Jürgen Strube Report (2017), and the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum Archives (2009)—based on their composition and characteristics. While these records share the commonality of documenting the worst human rights atrocities —the Sino-Japanese War, the Holocaust, and the Cambodian Genocide—they also exhibit distinctiveness in their composition: victim testimonies, perpetrator official records, and perpetrator systematic documentation systems, respectively. This study analyzed the characteristics of these three records and critically examined the politicization issues arising from the revision of the inscription procedures after 2017. This paper compares and analyzes the three records corresponding to ‘Dark Heritage’ based on archival value assessment theory and aims to recall the contemporary significance of ‘Dark Heritage’ records.
