This study aimed to analyze the educational value of Peking opera in after-school activities at kindergartens in Yinchuan City, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, China, to promote its revitalization. For this purpose, a case study and observations were conducted on the program implemented at Kindergarten A in Yinchuan City. The Peking opera program at Kindergarten A was designed as a four-stage system of “cognition-practice-creation-presentation,” reflecting the characteristics of after-school activities. The results confirmed that Peking opera education, by simplifying content and inducing interest based on children’s cognitive characteristics, enables children to grasp the importance of inheriting traditional culture beyond mere play, while also promoting multifaceted development in early childhood education. Based on these findings, the study suggests expanding the scope of after-school activities in Chinese kindergartens, strengthening resource linkage, and emphasizing the need for governmental policy support and securing financial resources.
