This study applies LCT to examine subject-specific patterns of knowledge legitimation in Korean high school textbooks and to explore the meta-level role of grammar education. Texts from science, mathematics, social studies, art, and grammar were analyzed in terms of the distribution and operation of specialization codes. The results show that science and mathematics are dominated by knowledge codes(ER+), while social studies primarily exhibit elite codes combining ER and SR. Art displays a dual structure in which knowledge and knower codes coexist. In contrast, grammar education demonstrates the coexistence and internal transition of multiple specialization codes, suggesting its capacity to mediate and coordinate different modes of knowledge legitimation across subjects. These findings indicate that grammar knowledge can function as a core metalinguistic resource for constructing academic literacy.
