This study aimed to identify the differences in the Korean language education system and educational philosophy in the three regions by comparing and analyzing the reading materials in the Korean language textbooks of The Korean people in South Korea, North Korea, and China by region, grade, and genre. The three regions are based on The Korean language, but differ in the composition and presentation of reading materials depending on the ideology and social and cultural background of the textbook. The analysis results show that the textbooks in South Korea tend to balance literary texts and non-literary texts in order to provide learners with diverse reading experiences, while the textbooks in North Korea and Korean ethnic minority in China present a literature-centered configuration of reading materials, thereby strengthening ideological education. In addition, all three regions demonstrate a common structural pattern in which reading materials are concentrated in elementary grades 3~4, while the proportion of non-literary texts increases in the upper grades of elementary school. These results suggest that differences in educational goals and social values within the same language area directly affect the diversity of text structure and learning experience in elementary Korean language education. This study could be used as a basic material for the development of integrated Korean language teaching materials, including the Two Koreas and Chinese Ethnic Koreans, and for the establishment of multicultural Korean language education.
