다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract) kakao i 다국어 번역

This paper aims to examine the possibilities of new spiritual art in the field of contemporary Korean sculpture, focusing on the important works of Dae-cheol Kang, who led the new materialistic spirituality of the SBNR era, especially his spiritual sculptures in the underground cave. He understood art as the search for the source of life and the creation of the essence of existence, and he continued his sculpture throughout his life as a religious practice or a compositional search. While contemporary art approaches the essence of existence through abstract expression, simple colors, or repetition of artistic acts, unlike ordinary art that realizes potential desires, Kang's works demonstrate a non-dualistic self-awareness that existential phenomena are not different from the ultimate reality. On the basis of this awareness, Kang practiced an artistic discipline of metamorphosis that results in a transcendental shift in consciousness. His spiritual art went through the rite of passage of metamorphosis to reach the sculpture tomb, which depicted the sea of life, the source of existence, and the essence of consciousness, clearly embodying the spirituality of non-dualistic awareness. The structure of the metamorphosis process was embodied in the non-duality of the One Heart, Two Doors(一心二門). Therefore, the spirituality of the SBNR era can be said to be non-daulistic awareness in which gesture-meditation creates meditation-gesture.
